Ways to Save Cost on Wedding Catering

A wedding can prove to be an extremely expensive affair. Firstly, you want this to be a day you will remember and cherish for the rest of your life. Then, reality sets in as you have to deal with budgets and working around them.

Catering is a very large expense in the list of wedding expenses. Although it cannot be done away with, there are some ways that you can try and cut down on catering expenditure. Start by having a frank talk with the caterer and tell him what your precise budget is, and he will be able to give you several options to work with.

Avoid getting very expensive crockery or china for your wedding. They will be used only once, and will be covered with lots of food anyway. Opt for cheaper crockery instead. You can even try using disposable crockery, which is a much more cost effective option. If you are watchful, you are sure to find some very interesting disposable crockery which also looks very presentable.

With the help of the caterer, try and arrive at a menu which is interesting, and still cost effective. You may want to add in foods like pasta or on site barbecues as these work out much cheaper than elaborate fares. You may like to look at the option of having buffets as opposed to sit down dinners which are served, and add to your expenses.

Negotiate on the alcohol and try and take your own, it will cut your cost dramatically. If you can get the caterer to waive off the fees for cutting and serving cake and the drinks, you might just have yourself a fine deal with the catering.
